Effectiveness of Text Message Reminders on Adherence to Inhaled Therapy in Patients With Asthma: Prospective Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial

Effectiveness of Text Message Reminders on Adherence to Inhaled Therapy in Patients With Asthma: Prospective Multicenter Randomized Clinical Trial

In these studies, reminders were also sent through the same electronic device (Smart Track or Smartinhaler [both Adherium Ltd]) that measured adherence to treatment, not through SMS [39,40]. Other studies used self-report questionnaires to measure inhaler adherence, but this leads to decreases the quality of the results. To date, a benefit in adherence to treatment from motivational text messages sent to a cell phone has not been reported.
