Incentives and Trust Are the Main Drivers of Recruiting Participants in 6 African Countries via Web-Based Environments: A Vignette Survey Experiment

Incentives and Trust Are the Main Drivers of Recruiting Participants in 6 African Countries via Web-Based Environments: A Vignette Survey Experiment

Equation 1 below depicts the related regression equation: where Yict refers to the outcome variable for individual i in country c for task t, T is a matrix related to binary variables that capture the 2 tasks (survey vs blood test) and 3 factors (topic, incentive, sponsor), X are potential control variables used in the robustness checks, μ refers to country fixed effects, and ε is the error term. SEs were clustered at the respondent level. The vignette experiment was preregistered at “OSF Registries.”

Examining the Relationship Between Assertiveness and Anxiety in First- and Second-Year US Medical Students

Examining the Relationship Between Assertiveness and Anxiety in First- and Second-Year US Medical Students

Parametric (2-tailed independent samples t test and Pearson correlation) and nonparametric (Kruskal-Wallis test and Spearman correlation) statistical tests were used based on data distribution normality. Gender and school year were used as grouping variables. This study received ethical approval from the California University of Science and Medicine Institutional Review Board (approval: HS-2024‐03) on January 22, 2024.

User Experiences With Digital Future-Self Interventions in the Contexts of Smoking and Physical Inactivity: Mixed Methods Multistudy Exploration

User Experiences With Digital Future-Self Interventions in the Contexts of Smoking and Physical Inactivity: Mixed Methods Multistudy Exploration

After computing descriptive statistics, a 1-sample t test examined whether anticipated difficulty scores differed from the neutral 0 point. One- and 3-way repeated-measure (RM) ANOVAs explored differences in anticipated difficulty and anticipated completion time based on behavior (smoking vs PA), polarity (desired vs undesired future self), and modality (verbal vs visual description) of the future-self tasks. Assumptions were verified (Multimedia Appendix 2).

The Relationship Between Medical Student Neuroticism and Preferred Medical Specialty: Cross-Sectional Study

The Relationship Between Medical Student Neuroticism and Preferred Medical Specialty: Cross-Sectional Study

Independent samples t tests (2-tailed) were used for normal data; Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for nonnormal data. The grouping variables were school year, gender, and specialty interest type. Statistical significance was determined as P≤.05. This study received ethical approval from the California University of Science and Medicine Institutional Review Board (approval: HS-2023‐59) on November 27, 2023.
