Examining Nonverbal Communication in Dyadic Interactions With Virtual Humans Using an Integrated Coding System: Mixed Methods Analysis

Examining Nonverbal Communication in Dyadic Interactions With Virtual Humans Using an Integrated Coding System: Mixed Methods Analysis

Mixed methods research is a methodology that intentionally integrates quantitative and qualitative research methods to obtain a holistic understanding of the research questions and objectives [16]. When integrating quantitative and qualitative coding at the methods level, a single video dataset can be analyzed using an inherently mixed methods analysis approach. Onwuegbuzie and Abrams [1] proposed several reasons for integrating quantitative and qualitative coding.

Experiences of a Neurofeedback-Based Mindfulness Meditation Intervention for Migraine: Qualitative Study

Experiences of a Neurofeedback-Based Mindfulness Meditation Intervention for Migraine: Qualitative Study

Quantitative, mixed methods, and qualitative studies have reported significant decreases in migraine pain intensity [20,21], frequency [4], and medication use [22] associated with these interventions. In a recent unblinded trial, participants reported reduced monthly migraine days and acute medication use after a 10-day mindfulness meditation retreat [23].

Acceptability of an Intervention to Prevent Older Adult Mistreatment Among Family Caregivers to Persons With Dementia: Multimethod Pilot Study

This study used a design incorporating posttest data collection only, including collection of qualitative survey data and qualitative interview data. Of the 151 caregivers registered to participate in KINDER, 98 caregivers completed the program when it was offered in a community-based service setting from April 2023 to March 2024 [15].

Family Caregivers of Individuals With Neuromuscular Disease Participating in a Randomized Controlled Trial of a Digital Peer Support Program: Nested Qualitative Study

The study was conducted and reported in accordance with the COREQ (Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Studies) and Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research: A Synthesis of Recommendations (Checklist 1) [24,25]. We also used the CONSORT (Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials) checklist when writing our report (Checklist 2) [26].

Technology Acceptance Model in Medical Education: Systematic Review

Technology Acceptance Model in Medical Education: Systematic Review

The MERSQI was not designed for use in qualitative studies. Therefore, these studies will not be assessed using the MERSQI. A systematic literature retrieval and analysis was methodically executed across 5 authoritative databases (Embase, MEDLINE, Psyc INFO, Pub Med, and Web of Science), yielding 580 records. The PRISMA checklist informed the review protocol and is depicted in the flow diagram in Figure 1.

Reducing Methamphetamine Use in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities With the “We Can Do This” Web App: Qualitative Evaluation of Acceptability and Feasibility

The first 2 phases of the project focused on gathering quantitative and qualitative data on patterns of methamphetamine use and risk and protective factors for use [15], while the latter 2 phases focused on using that information to inform the development of culturally appropriate and strengths-based prevention and treatment interventions to reduce methamphetamine related harm [16].

Evaluating a Large Language Model’s Ability to Synthesize a Health Science Master’s Thesis: Case Study

Evaluating a Large Language Model’s Ability to Synthesize a Health Science Master’s Thesis: Case Study

In an exploratory case study, we asked Chat GPT (Chat GPT-4o and Chat GPT-o1) to synthesize two datasets: one qualitative and one quantitative, inspired by existing real-world datasets the authors had previously analyzed. The generation of synthetic datasets and subsequent data analysis took place in October and November of 2024.

Young Adults With Type 1 Diabetes and Their Perspectives on Diabetes-Related Social Media: Qualitative Study

Young Adults With Type 1 Diabetes and Their Perspectives on Diabetes-Related Social Media: Qualitative Study

For example, Tenderich et al [16] used qualitative methods to describe T1 D-related content on various SM platforms, having 6 main themes: humor, diabetic pride, getting personal with diabetes tech, tips and tricks, building community, and venting . Holtz and Kanthawala also qualitatively reviewed SM posts, focusing on Instagram (Meta) posts about T1 D, finding more positive than negative sentiment in posts, and that self-disclosure of diabetes was associated with increased post engagement [17].
