In our analysis of Talking Therapies EHR data, we treated the Talking Therapies care pathway as a process, where care pathway stages form the activities in the process, while referred patients (termed “referrals” within IAPT services) are the entities who travel through the process.

The pathway model has been used in previous studies on diversity [47]. A common framework is diversity practices–pathways–performance [48]. Following this framework, we considered business and service benefits as the performance component. We examined the associations with three pathways: improving, recruiting, and collaborating. The two types of diversity practices are D&I strategy and talent strategy.

The core of the engine is a custom ontology called Universal Care Pathway Ontology (UCPO), which represents the knowledge contained in our pathway-driven integrated care model. Given specific patient data, the engine will generate a small-scale knowledge graph based on UCPO to provide personalized decision support.
The clients are represented in different forms for both care providers and patients.
