An Emerging Screening Method for Interrogating Human Brain Function: Tutorial

Here we used a nonlinear spectral embedding to reduce the signal of one epoch (t time points representing a t-dimensional space) into a single dimension. Specifically for spectral embedding, we constructed a k-nearest neighbors graph with n nodes (for n observations) and projected it to a single dimension by calculating a spectral decomposition of the graph Laplacian. Nodes that are connected in the original graph are clustered together.
