Furthermore, it is also possible that this study miscalculated the potential effect of the intervention when setting the noninferiority margin or that the power might have resulted in a type II error, which might have contributed to the null result. The step-up criteria used and the time point at which responder status was determined may have also influenced the findings. It is possible that an earlier assessment would be more beneficial in determining the need to adapt or step up the intervention.
