An Australian study conducted in 2020 surveyed pregnant women and various maternity health care providers during the early stages of the pandemic and found that pregnant women were the least likely group to accept vaccination [2]. At the time of the study, only 14% of pregnant women had been vaccinated, and 48% of pregnant women indicated they had definite intentions to be vaccinated [2].

Informatics Interventions for Maternal Morbidity: Scoping Review
Research shows that lack of standardized emergency obstetric care, maternity care coordination [105], and systemic racism [106] can play a role in the safe and effective delivery of care. The results of this scoping review show a large gap in the literature related to using informatics to improve the quality of care for maternal morbidities. Interventions such as telehealth have been shown to improve obstetric quality, including perinatal smoking cessation and breastfeeding [107].

Home-based maternal records, also referred to as pregnancy logs, maternity records, or hand-held paper records, store women’s medical information during pregnancy. These records contain various information, for example, about vaccinations, blood pressure, or ultrasound examinations [1]. They are used in more than 163 countries and greatly vary in design and content [2]. Home-based maternal records have been shown to provide advantages.

The Pregnancy and Newborn Diagnostic Assessment system. PANDA: Pregnancy and Newborn Diagnostic Assessment.
The PANDA system used in our proposed study is like the system used in the pilot feasibility and acceptability study in 2016 [21]. It has already been adapted to the Burkinabè context.
