Changes in self-reported average systolic BP (SBP) and diastolic BP (DBP) during the observational period for group 1 and subgroups within this population are shown in Table 4. No significant changes in average SBP (mean –0.9, SD 10.7 mm Hg; P=.30) or DBP (mean –1.0, SD 7.9 mm Hg; P=.10) were detected between week 1 and week 12. Subgroup analysis by age (≥65 y and .05).

According to the 2020 American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association hypertension guidelines, the BP categories are hypertension (systolic BP [SBP] ≥130 mm Hg or diastolic BP [DBP] ≥80 mm Hg) or not (SBP
SBP and DBP were divided, but a pair of SBP and DBP data were used to measure improvement in approaching the objective range. We also measured the FBG and postprandial glucose (PPG) levels.

They found that in the digital intervention groups patients saw an average decrease in blood pressure of 14 mm Hg in systolic blood pressure (SBP) and 5 mm Hg in diastolic blood pressure (DBP) after 90 days compared with those on usual care with a reduction of 4 mm Hg/2 mm Hg [8]. This study displays what is possible at the higher end of blood pressure reductions over 90 days given that this was a partially medication-guided intervention.
