Demographics and Use of an Addiction Helpline for Concerned Significant Others: Observational Study

Demographics and Use of an Addiction Helpline for Concerned Significant Others: Observational Study

Due to privacy concerns, people reaching out to the helpline are not required to provide demographic information or complete assessments to receive support. As a result, our sample reflects only clients for whom demographic information is available, not all clients served during the period (N=35,000). In addition, assessment completion is not required to access helpline services, and some records contain missing data. Missing data were detailed in descriptive analyses.

Investigating Smartphone-Based Sensing Features for Depression Severity Prediction: Observation Study

Investigating Smartphone-Based Sensing Features for Depression Severity Prediction: Observation Study

Well-established assessments like structured clinical interviews are often not feasible to be conducted in primary care or for preventive screening purposes (eg, due to time pressure or limited availability of qualified personnel) [10-13,15]. Furthermore, if they are implemented, they typically take place at a fixed time point and assess symptoms retrospectively, which makes them subject to several biases (eg, recall bias) and unable to assess the dynamic and fluctuating nature of mental health [16-18].

Four New Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Examining Health-Seeking Behavior in Persons With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (REDD-CAT): Instrument Development Study

Four New Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Examining Health-Seeking Behavior in Persons With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (REDD-CAT): Instrument Development Study

A systematic review of literature on health-seeking behavior concluded that routine assessments of patients’ health-seeking behaviors and attitudes are warranted as a marker of patient activation and healthy coping with illness [4]. The credibility of patients’ information sources and their intent to act on such information should also be considered in the context of their social environment [4,6].

Association of a Novel Electronic Form for Preoperative Cardiac Risk Assessment With Reduction in Cardiac Consultations and Testing: Retrospective Cohort Study

Association of a Novel Electronic Form for Preoperative Cardiac Risk Assessment With Reduction in Cardiac Consultations and Testing: Retrospective Cohort Study

To address this issue, we developed an EMR form (Epic) to assist clinicians in performing preoperative assessments (Figure 2). This takes less than 1 minute to complete; displays suggestions when preoperative cardiac testing may be unnecessary (an example is shown in Multimedia Appendix 1); and tracks the completed steps of the algorithm and the point at which it ends, referred to as the algorithm end point (AEP).

Gait Features in Different Environments Contributing to Participation in Outdoor Activities in Old Age (GaitAge): Protocol for an Observational Cross-Sectional Study

Gait Features in Different Environments Contributing to Participation in Outdoor Activities in Old Age (GaitAge): Protocol for an Observational Cross-Sectional Study

While these assessments provided knowledge about issues such as fall prediction [9] many uncertainties remain. For example, the environment where the activity takes place is typically not recorded, so it is not known whether changes in gait represent a response to some specific environmental demand or whether it is an expression of a person’s usual performance.

Suicide Risk Assessments Through the Eyes of ChatGPT-3.5 Versus ChatGPT-4: Vignette Study

Suicide Risk Assessments Through the Eyes of ChatGPT-3.5 Versus ChatGPT-4: Vignette Study

The results showed that Chat GPT-3.5 (March 14 version) generally underestimated the risk of suicide, which raised concerns about its reliability for such assessments. Thus, our previous study indicated that until further evidence could support its accuracy, mental health professionals should consider Chat GPT’s assessments to be nonprofessional [6].

Teleassessments for Enrollment of Adults With Physical or Mobility Disability in a Home-Based Exercise Trial in Response to COVID-19: Usability Study

Teleassessments for Enrollment of Adults With Physical or Mobility Disability in a Home-Based Exercise Trial in Response to COVID-19: Usability Study

The session included the following assessments: anthropometrics (2 resting blood pressure readings, 2 resting heart rate readings), grip strength, peak expiratory volume, Five Times Sit to Stand, and Timed Up and Go (Figure 2). All measures were completed based on the participants’ disability and level of function. For example, if someone was unable to walk, they would not complete the Five Times Sit to Stand and Timed Up and Go tests.

A Smart Home System for Information Sharing, Health Assessments, and Medication Self-Management for Older People: Protocol for a Mixed-Methods Study

A Smart Home System for Information Sharing, Health Assessments, and Medication Self-Management for Older People: Protocol for a Mixed-Methods Study

With input from the participants, we identified two main concepts that could comprise a system to collect and compile health-related evidence to support decision making and communication regarding medication treatment, which in turn could enhance medication self-management: the Intelligent Age-Friendly Home (IAFH) and the Medication safety, Objective assessments of health-related behaviors, and Personalized medication reminders (Med OP) system.
