An App-Based Physical Activity Intervention in Community-Dwelling Chinese-, Tagalog-, and Vietnamese-Speaking Americans: Single-Arm Intervention Study

With a bicultural and bilingual research team, we adapted the intervention for Chinese, Tagalog (Filipino), and Vietnamese speakers. Using a team approach, all participant-facing intervention materials were forward translated to traditional Chinese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese followed by a critical review of the cultural and language equivalence at a fourth-grade reading level by a team of culturally and linguistically competent staff members and researchers.

Digital Storytelling Intervention to Promote Human Papillomavirus Vaccination Among At-Risk Asian Immigrant Populations: Pilot Intervention Study

Perceived Risk of Diabetes Among Vietnamese Americans With Prediabetes: Mixed Methods Study

Perceived Risk of Diabetes Among Vietnamese Americans With Prediabetes: Mixed Methods Study

Despite having a BMI within normal limits, Vietnamese Americans experience a disproportionate burden of diabetes with higher diabetes prevalence rates compared with non-Hispanic Whites, having 60% higher odds of diabetes (P=.03) [2]. The average age of initial T2 DM diagnosis in Vietnamese Americans is more than 5 years younger than that in non-Hispanic Whites [3]. Despite these increased risk factors, there are no publications for diabetes prevention studies targeted at the Vietnamese American population.

Exploring Intergenerational Communication on Social Media Group Chats as a Cancer Prevention Intervention Opportunity Among Vietnamese American Families: Qualitative Study

Exploring Intergenerational Communication on Social Media Group Chats as a Cancer Prevention Intervention Opportunity Among Vietnamese American Families: Qualitative Study

Cancer is the leading cause of death among Vietnamese Americans living in the United States [8,9]. Five-year age-adjusted human papillomavirus (HPV)-related cancers such as cervical cancer continue to be high in Vietnamese women in the United States (9.5 per 100,000) and colorectal cancer in both Vietnamese men and women (47.8 and 30.7 per 100,000, respectively) [8,10]. The high rates are due to a lack of early prevention behavior.
