Participants worked in Rochester, Minnesota (n=10); Phoenix, Arizona (n=7); Jacksonville, Florida (n=4); Eau Claire, Wisconsin (n=3); La Crosse, Wisconsin (n=2); and Mankato, Minnesota (n=3). They cared for the following types of surgical patients: colorectal (n=3), obstetrics (cesarean section; n=5), gynecological (n=3), cardiac ICU (n=3), pulmonary and thoracic (n=1), transplant (n=3), orthopedic (n=5), cardiac and lung (n=4), gynecological and orthopedic (n=1), and colorectal and gynecological (n=1).

Further exclusion criteria involved removing posts that lacked sufficient focus on the topic (n=38, 5.92%), had 10 years old (n=11, 1.71%; Figure 1). Among the 31 participants enrolled in the pilot study (Zoom n=16; Facebook n=15), 14 (Zoom n=9; Facebook n=5) agreed to participate in the focus groups (Table 2). Notably, 93% (n=13) identified as female, 13% (n=2) identified as non-White and Hispanic or Latino, and 64% (n=9) possessed a college degree.

Assessing the Psychosocial Impact of Expressive Writing on Adults With Spinal Cord Injury: Qualitative Study

More than 75% (n=19) of participants who completed the writing program attended the 2-hour web-based gathering to share their experiences. A phenomenological approach using thematic analysis was used to identify emerging themes from the interview transcripts related to participants’ experiences with the expressive writing program (ie, the Writing for Healing workshop) and the impact of these experiences on their emotions, moods, thoughts, and daily lives.

The cohort of 134 patients with hypothyroidism joined the sessions from different geographical locations in India, including Andhra Pradesh (n=10, 7.5%), Gujarat (n=13, 9.7%), Karnataka (n=32, 23.9%), Madhya Pradesh (n=9, 6.7%), Maharashtra (n=22, 16.4%), New Delhi (n=22, 16.4%), Tamil Nadu (n=15, 11.2%), and West Bengal (n=11, 8.2%).
