Exploring Conceptualizations of COVID-19 Risk in Ideologically Distinct Online Communities: A Computational Grounded Theory Analysis

To address each of these RQs, we applied computational grounded theory, a 3-step approach (pattern detection, hypothesis refinement, and pattern confirmation) developed by Nelson (2020) [19]. This study uses publicly available social media data; as such, we did not seek human participants’ ethical review. To limit the potential of author identification, we paraphrased all quotes included in this manuscript.
