An App-Based Remote Patient Monitoring System With Wrist and In-Ear Wearables in Gastrointestinal Oncology: Prospective Feasibility Pilot Study

An App-Based Remote Patient Monitoring System With Wrist and In-Ear Wearables in Gastrointestinal Oncology: Prospective Feasibility Pilot Study

Precision medicine has an important impact on outpatient treatment regimens for prevalent disease entities such as gastrointestinal cancers [3]. For example, adenocarcinomas of the stomach and esophagogastric junction are treated with the checkpoint inhibitor nivolumab [4]. Unlike conventional chemotherapeutic agents, precision medicine drugs target the molecular structure of the tumor.

Exploring Inflammatory Bowel Disease Discourse on Reddit Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic Using OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 Turbo Model: Classification Model Validation and Case Study

Exploring Inflammatory Bowel Disease Discourse on Reddit Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic Using OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 Turbo Model: Classification Model Validation and Case Study

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an autoimmune disorder of the gastrointestinal tract that impacts around 3.1 million adults in the United States [1]. While immunosuppressive medications have shown efficacy in treating IBD, they also increase the risk of infections such as COVID-19 [2,3]. This increased susceptibility to COVID-19 has led individuals with IBD to isolate, potentially exacerbating the adverse health effects associated with pandemic restrictions [4-6].

Temperature Measurement Timings and the Fever Detection Rate After Gastrointestinal Surgery: Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study

Temperature Measurement Timings and the Fever Detection Rate After Gastrointestinal Surgery: Retrospective Cross-Sectional Study

Fever commonly ensues following a diverse array of surgical interventions, including gastrointestinal procedures. Postoperative fever frequently stems from surgical stress and complicating factors [1,2]. In the context of gastrointestinal surgery, fever not only reflects elevated levels of surgical stress but may also signal the potential for complications, such as thrombosis, gastrointestinal leaks, intra-abdominal infections, and pulmonary infections [3-7].

Advancing Public Health Surveillance in Child Care Centers: Stakeholder-Informed Redesign and User Satisfaction Evaluation of the MCRISP Network

Advancing Public Health Surveillance in Child Care Centers: Stakeholder-Informed Redesign and User Satisfaction Evaluation of the MCRISP Network

Child care centers are important hubs for monitoring respiratory and gastrointestinal illness transmission [1,2]. The Michigan Child Care Related Infection Surveillance Program (MCRISP) is a free website that empowers ~25 regional child care centers to submit illness reports and leverages that data to provide public health illness surveillance locally [3]. MCRISP has demonstrated functionality for sentinel reporting for outbreaks [4,5].

Development of a Digital Patient Assistant for the Management of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome: Patient-Centric Design Study

Development of a Digital Patient Assistant for the Management of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome: Patient-Centric Design Study

CVS: cyclic vomiting syndrome; DPA: digital patient assistant; ED: emergency department; GI: gastrointestinal. The results from earlier development steps were integrated into the first iteration of the DPA. This prototype was comprised of an introductory bot, a check-in bot, a knowledge hub providing access to CVS-related articles and microlearning videos, and a patient dashboard showing a snapshot of potential triggers, symptoms, episode frequency, DPA use, and correlation with vital health metrics.

Effects of the Prolong Life With Nine Turn-Method Qigong on Fatigue, Insomnia, Anxiety, and Gastrointestinal Disorders in Patients With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Effects of the Prolong Life With Nine Turn-Method Qigong on Fatigue, Insomnia, Anxiety, and Gastrointestinal Disorders in Patients With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a complex neuroimmune disease, usually characterized by severe fatigue, cognitive and autonomic dysfunction, and gastrointestinal discomfort, which seriously affect activities of daily living [1]. Mental sickness, sleep disorders, and gastrointestinal dysfunction are common symptoms reported by patients with CFS [2].
