Impact of Media-Induced Uncertainty on Mental Health: Narrative-Based Perspective

Impact of Media-Induced Uncertainty on Mental Health: Narrative-Based Perspective

Additional lines of research have associated negative or violent news watching with anxiety and depression, self-destructive behaviors, and other mental health issues [18,19]. In addition to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression also showed significant linkages with indirect (media-transmitted) contact with disasters and large-scale violence [20,21].

Effects of Remote Web-Based Interventions on the Physiological and Psychological States of Patients With Cancer: Systematic Review With Meta-Analysis

When we extracted the relevant data from the included studies, we found that there were controversies regarding the efficacy of remote web-based interventions on the anxiety and depression of patients with cancer. Although anxiety and depression were not listed as outcome indicators in the initial registration protocol, they are closely related to the research topic.

Impacts of the Mindfulness Meditation Mobile App Calm on Undergraduate Students’ Sleep and Emotional State: Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

Impacts of the Mindfulness Meditation Mobile App Calm on Undergraduate Students’ Sleep and Emotional State: Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

Poor emotional health is a considerable problem among university students, with current evidence suggesting depression, anxiety, and stress are frequently reported among this population [1-4]. For instance, in a World Health Organization survey of students from 19 universities across 8 countries, 35% of participants met the diagnostic criteria for either a mood, substance-use, or anxiety disorder [1].

Needs and Expectations for the myNewWay Blended Digital and Face-to-Face Psychotherapy Model of Care for Depression and Anxiety (Part 1): Participatory Design Study including People with Lived and Living Experience

Needs and Expectations for the myNewWay Blended Digital and Face-to-Face Psychotherapy Model of Care for Depression and Anxiety (Part 1): Participatory Design Study including People with Lived and Living Experience

Globally, depression and anxiety are two of the most prevalent mental health disorders. In 2019, an estimated 280 million people were living with a depressive disorder, while >300 million people were living with an anxiety disorder [1]. Depression and anxiety commonly co-occur, with comorbidity rates as high as 50% [2].

Indeed, the term stress is rather nebulous, and therefore it is imperative to further explore different stressors that may include general distress, anxiety, and even voiding-specific stressors. Specifically, diagnostic descriptors of social anxiety disorder refer to “bladder shyness” and difficulties using public bathrooms [57].

The Influence of eHealth Stress Management Interventions on Psychological Health Parameters in Patients With Cardiovascular Disease: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Additionally, there are also scales available that assess psychological well-being under consideration of anxiety, depression, and stress simultaneously. Notable examples include the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales-21 (DASS-21) or the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) [16,17]. The link between stress and mental health disorders, as well as between stress and CVD, is well-documented [18-20]. Reducing stress is crucial for cardiovascular risk.

The Role of Early Engagement in a Self-Directed, Digital Mental Health Intervention for Adolescent Anxiety: Moderated Regression Analysis

The Role of Early Engagement in a Self-Directed, Digital Mental Health Intervention for Adolescent Anxiety: Moderated Regression Analysis

Approximately 6.5% of adolescents internationally experience anxiety [1]. Anxiety can become entrenched, lead to a lifelong struggle, and is linked to numerous other problems, such as reduced academic performance, poor self-esteem, social problems, substance abuse, depression, and attention and concentration difficulties [2,3]. Digital mental health (d MH) interventions are an effective treatment of choice for many adolescents with anxiety [4-6].

In addition, “tentativeness,” as measured by a higher degree of uncertainty, is correlated with quantitative levels of symptoms of anxiety measured by the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item (GAD-7) scale [6]. These findings underscore the potential of quantitative language analysis as a sensitive and objective measure for monitoring disease trajectories and treatment efficacy.

The Positive Effect of Video-Game Play on College Students’ Anxiety and Depression Symptoms During the COVID-19 Pandemic Shelter-in-Place Lockdowns: Mixed Methods Study

Students aged Since our primary goal was to investigate the association between video game play and the scale of college students’ anxiety and depression symptoms, we used the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) questionnaire for the screening of anxiety [56,57] and the self-administered 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) for the assessment of individual depression [58,59].

Transforming Health and Reducing Perinatal Anxiety Through Virtual Engagement: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Transforming Health and Reducing Perinatal Anxiety Through Virtual Engagement: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

In addition to anxiety disorders and elevations in general anxiety symptoms, pregnant people also experience pregnancy-specific anxiety, an affective state of persistent worry surrounding a pregnant person’s prenatal health, delivery, the well-being of the baby, and future parenting [14]. Pregnancy-specific anxiety is estimated to affect between 14% and 19% of pregnant people [14,15] and appears to be uniquely predictive of adverse birth outcomes like preterm birth.
