The screening listed different substances and asked how often the participant had used them in the past 3 months. Potential participants read through the list independently and circled their answers on the sheet. People were eligible to participate if they self-reported using at least 1 of the following: cocaine, amphetamine-type substances, inhalants, sedatives, benzodiazepines, hallucinogens, prescription opioids other than as prescribed by a doctor, or heroin.
