Email-Based Recruitment Into the Health eHeart Study: Cohort Analysis of Invited Eligible Patients
The primary outcome of interest was enrollment, defined by account registration and consent into the Health e Heart Study, among contacted patients. In the Health e Heart Study, enrollment occurs in 2 crucial steps: registration and consent. We also looked at these 2 steps separately. We defined registered patient participants as those who set up a Health e Heart Study account with a name, date of birth, email, and password.

The registration was by use of a precoded MS Excel (Microsoft, Inc.) document. The information and instructions on registrations and use of registration tools (ie, kitchen scale and excel document) were provided in a synchronous digital meeting, and any expenses related to the procurement of the kitchen scale were covered by the project sponsor.

Births, deaths, marriages, divorce, adoption, and causes of death are the vital events that constitute a country’s civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS). Vital registration is fundamental to the logical operation of health care services, thereby ensuring equity, empowerment, and improved economic productivity [6-11]. Birth registration is an essential human right, acknowledging individual existence and identity. It also helps ensure health care, social protection, and education [9].
