Effects of Peer- or Professional-Led Support in Enhancing Adherence to Wearable Monitoring Devices Among Community-Dwelling Older Adults: Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials

However, to the best of our knowledge, there has been no systematic review evaluating the effects of these peer- or professional-led intervention programs on improving long-term adherence to WMDs among older adults or identifying the specific components in these programs that can lead to positive effects. Conducting such reviews could help researchers and policy makers design targeted strategies to promote the use of WMDs, ultimately leading to better health monitoring and improved health care outcomes.

A study of adolescents aged between 15 and 20 years described text messaging as convenient for health promotion because they are “always on their phones” [10] and a text-based peer education intervention in which youths could text sexual health questions to a peer health educator was found to be feasible and acceptable [8]. Indeed, many women express interest in the use of Internet-based health care resources during the perinatal period [19]. Furthermore, Internet-based resources for perinatal depression and anxiety have demonstrated feasibility and efficacy [20-25].
