Malnourished hospitalized patients are at a higher risk of complications, such as pressure ulcers, infections [3], and frailty [4]. These are the risk factors of disability associated with daily living activities, and they can result in death [5,6]. In current superaged societies, malnutrition poses an increased risk. Therefore, an accurate evaluation of the nutritional status of hospitalized patients is crucial for the prevention of malnutrition among such patients [7].
