Knee osteoarthritis is the most common type, with data indicating that 45% of people may develop symptomatic knee osteoarthritis in their lifetime [3]. Accordingly, knee osteoarthritis is the most prevalent type of osteoarthritis in Africans [4], accounting for 65%-78% of cases in hospitals in Nigeria [5].
