Characterizing Cross-Provincial High-Cost Patients in Rural China: Cross-Sectional Study

All patients who utilized cross-provincial inpatient services and received immediate reimbursement were included. We collected data from Cross-provincial Medical Immediate Reimbursement System, which is a subsystem of URRBMI. The system was established in 2017, and it records the information related to cross-provincial medical reimbursement, including demographic characteristics, expenditure information, and clinical characteristics, among other variables (Table 1).

Specifically, we aimed to (1) compare the feasibility and acceptability of different wearable devices to assess mobility for long-term continuous monitoring during inpatient hospital stays among older hospitalized patients, and (2) for the selected device from aim 1, determine its concurrent validity for detecting body posture and step count. We will approach hospitalized, English-speaking, African American patients at UCMC, aged 18-70 years, who meet the criteria for advanced CKD (Stage 3b or greater) with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (e GFR) This study will be a substudy of the Hospitalist Project, an ongoing clinical study that examines a variety of outcomes of patients hospitalized in our general internal medicine services, and includes the analysis of administrative data, inpatient interviews, and 30-day follow-up by phone [7].

Overall, the study objectives were to (1) develop a data cleaning procedure for a large inpatient Vi Si posture monitoring dataset with a duration of 1 year, (2) consolidate posture codes into categories, (3) derive concise summary statistics from the continuous monitoring data, and (4) study types of patient posture habits using summary statistics of posture duration and transition frequency.
