Postpartum Depression and Maternal-Infant Bonding Experiences in Social Media Videos: Qualitative Content Analysis

Postpartum Depression and Maternal-Infant Bonding Experiences in Social Media Videos: Qualitative Content Analysis

A coding rubric was developed in several stages using an inductive and deductive (ie, hybrid) approach [27,28]. Videos were the unit of analysis with visual, audio, and text (both in the video and its description) components. First, deductively, one author (KS) identified an initial set of codes based on existing literature to design a preliminary codebook. Subsequently, over 5 rounds, coders independently watched 45 videos (5‐10 per round) from the eligible videos and then reviewed them as a group.

Preferences, Needs, and Values of Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Attending a Telehealth Service: Qualitative Interview Study

Preferences, Needs, and Values of Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Attending a Telehealth Service: Qualitative Interview Study

An inductive approach was used, beginning with open coding to create categories, followed by abstraction to generate main categories [29]. A 3-step content analysis was used to identify the main categories. Each interview was transcribed and carefully reviewed to understand the context of the data. Subsequently, the transcripts were uploaded and coded using NVivo 12 (QSR International) [30] by CWS. Over 700 codes were identified and categorized into 66 subcategories.

Rapport Building in Written Crisis Services: Qualitative Content Analysis

Rapport Building in Written Crisis Services: Qualitative Content Analysis

We used both inductive and deductive processes to develop the codes. The first draft of the coding frame was based on our work with child maltreatment–related conversations within the Crisis Text Line [51-53]. Then, we revised the framework based on the content of the conversations. Our development process followed the adaptation of grounded theory described by Schreier [54]. The lead author and her graduate research assistant reviewed all the conversations.

Using Patient Blogs on Social Media to Assess the Content Validity of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures: Qualitative Analysis of Patient-Written Blogs

Using Patient Blogs on Social Media to Assess the Content Validity of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures: Qualitative Analysis of Patient-Written Blogs

In ATLAS.ti, unstructured, raw data from blogs were analyzed using open inductive coding in an iterative process. This analysis resulted in the identification of themes and subthemes that have been used to explore how bloggers experience their health-related quality of life. Health-related quality of life is a broad concept relating to the effect of a particular health status on a person’s well-being [28].
