Revisiting restrictive policies, such as the Food and Drug Administration’s recent lift on blood donation restrictions for LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) individuals in alignment with global scientific evidence and inclusive policies, promotes equity and significantly bolsters donor numbers [14]. Similarly, revisiting strategies to engaging younger generations in blood donation requires authentic, relatable approaches that highlight its altruistic impact.

We use our ACHIEVE (successfully achieving and maintaining euglycemia during pregnancy for type 2 diabetes through technology and coaching) solution as the basis to address these knowledge gaps by proposing an evidence-based framework for designing m Health apps that is both inclusive and personalized. This framework demonstrates how the design, implementation, and evaluation of such tools, driven by the principles of UCD, can be collectively undertaken for any digital health tool.

Specifically, the messages were inclusive and comprehensive and had a good balance between science and simple language. The messages were viewed as “good,” “persuasive” (quotation 1.02), and “educational” (quotations 1.01-1.02). Most participants stated that the reading level was good, and suggested a few edits to specific messages (eg, whether the messenger RNA [m RNA] vaccine changes your DNA).
