Although 1982 people received an organ from a deceased donor, as many as 1627 people were still waiting for an organ by the end of the year.

To address this critical issue, concerted efforts and innovative approaches are essential to augment the pool of corneal donors. Various factors contribute to donor shortage, including a lack of awareness and education, cultural and religious beliefs, organizational and infrastructure challenges, and inadequate funding [2,3,5,6]. The shortage of corneal donors has profound consequences among individuals in need of corneal transplantation, leading to increased waiting times [7].
