Over the past couple of decades, the prevalence of noncommunicable diseases has increased, especially in low and middle-income countries [1,2]. These countries are also currently dealing with a double disease burden, with simultaneously higher prevalences of both communicable and noncommunicable diseases [3]. Regularly monitoring the prevalence and trends of these diseases is therefore crucial to direct prevention, treatment, and control efforts [2,4,5].
