Development of an mHealth Solution for Tailored Communication Between Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Health Care Professionals: Participatory Design Study

Development of an mHealth Solution for Tailored Communication Between Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Health Care Professionals: Participatory Design Study

Close communication with health care professionals is essential for supporting patients’ self-management, well-being, and quality of life [6,11]. In addition, handling symptoms consists of adapting diet, medical treatment, stress management, and symptom recognition [6].

Feasibility of a Text Message–Based Alcohol Prevention Intervention for Parents of Rising Middle School Students: Randomized Controlled Trial

Feasibility of a Text Message–Based Alcohol Prevention Intervention for Parents of Rising Middle School Students: Randomized Controlled Trial

Existing programs, such as Strengthening Families Program and Talk, They Hear You, also incorporate parent-child communication skills and setting limits or rules with children [20,21], and Talk, They Hear You offers an array of resources online and in an app-based format for parents [21]. However, these programs are not designed to deliver small bites of information to accommodate busy schedules.

Evaluation of a Novel Goals-of-Care Discussion Priming Tool (MyCare) in Inpatient General Internal Medicine Ward Settings: Feasibility, Acceptability, and Usability Study

Evaluation of a Novel Goals-of-Care Discussion Priming Tool (MyCare) in Inpatient General Internal Medicine Ward Settings: Feasibility, Acceptability, and Usability Study

Patients self-identified 2 functions of My Care: personal reflection and supporting shared communication of their goals, wishes, and values. The patient stated that My Care was informative and allowed them to think about next steps as they age: [T]he part about getting older and close to death and prioritizing and reflecting on the things, that made me aware to do the things.

Advancing Knowledge of Values-Clarification Processes During Complex Decision-Making Among Older Adults With Advanced Cancer: Protocol for a Pilot Randomized Trial Using Simulated Patient-Clinician Encounters

Advancing Knowledge of Values-Clarification Processes During Complex Decision-Making Among Older Adults With Advanced Cancer: Protocol for a Pilot Randomized Trial Using Simulated Patient-Clinician Encounters

Situational awareness can be assessed using simulations and has been used in health care to identify communication gaps and training opportunities [26-29]. Therefore, applying the situational awareness framework to values-clarification and SDM provides a structured approach to evaluate engagement quality, highlight missed communication opportunities, and conceptualize values-discordance as a potential safety risk given its link to higher treatment burden [21] and more aggressive care [18,22].

Nurse-Patient Communication During Postpartum Discharge Teaching: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Study

Nurse-Patient Communication During Postpartum Discharge Teaching: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Study

Communication failures in inpatient maternity care are one of the leading causes of preventable maternal mortality in the hospital [3-14]. Postpartum discharge teaching is a critical communication moment with mothers immediately before they leave the hospital after giving birth and is often the last contact that a woman will have with a health care practitioner for 6 weeks, if not more. Nurses provide most direct inpatient maternity care.

From Taboo to Touchscreen: A Qualitative Study of Digital Sexual and Reproductive Health Intervention for Bangladeshi Adolescents

From Taboo to Touchscreen: A Qualitative Study of Digital Sexual and Reproductive Health Intervention for Bangladeshi Adolescents

Our exploration focused on factors, such as how mobile app-based platforms can harness peer communication, identify potential barriers to adoption, and their impact on enhancing SRH knowledge, as well as strategies for developing scalable, culturally sensitive digital health interventions.

Metastatic Breast Cancer mHealth App to Promote Patient-Provider Communication: Protocol for a Usability and Satisfaction Study

Metastatic Breast Cancer mHealth App to Promote Patient-Provider Communication: Protocol for a Usability and Satisfaction Study

However, evidence on digital health interventions (DHIs) to improve patient provider communication is limited. A recent systematic review identified only 13 DHIs that targeted improvement of patient-provider communication in cancer care, with just 4 focused on breast cancer. None of these interventions involve delivery through a m Health app [13].

Mapping Vaccine Sentiment by Analyzing Spanish-Language Social Media Posts and Survey-Based Public Opinion: Dual Methods Study

Mapping Vaccine Sentiment by Analyzing Spanish-Language Social Media Posts and Survey-Based Public Opinion: Dual Methods Study

X (formerly known as Twitter) has been an important source of information for studying vaccine hesitancy, as social media platforms have been considered effective tools for communication between individuals and organizations, but they have also been used as tools to spread false information and conspiracy theories about vaccines [20-22]. Several studies have been published analyzing public opinions or sentiments about vaccines on X using artificial intelligence (AI).

Assessing the Clinical Feasibility of the DiaFocus System for Integrated Personalized Management of Type 2 Diabetes: 6-Month Pilot Cohort Study

Assessing the Clinical Feasibility of the DiaFocus System for Integrated Personalized Management of Type 2 Diabetes: 6-Month Pilot Cohort Study

The system is designed to collect diabetes-related data, including participant-reported outcomes, sensor-based measures on physical activity, and participant-selected focus areas, aiming to support communication and shared decision-making between the HCP and the person with diabetes. The technical feasibility of using the Dia Focus app for T2 D management was assessed in a 6-week pilot study with 12 participants [13].

Comparing the Costs of Surveillance of Early-Stage Breast Cancer by Digital or Traditional Follow-Up Methods: Randomized Crossover Study

Comparing the Costs of Surveillance of Early-Stage Breast Cancer by Digital or Traditional Follow-Up Methods: Randomized Crossover Study

Due to the increasing number of breast cancer survivors and limited health care resources, there was a need to develop web-based systems for communication between patients and professionals. In 2015, a web-based patient report app Noona (Helsinki University Hospital; Noona Healthcare) was developed at the HUS CCC in collaboration with a Finnish start-up company. Noona app enabled patients to contact specialist breast cancer nurses between visits.
