Mental Health Client Experiences of Telehealth in Aotearoa New Zealand During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Lessons and Implications

This study fills a gap in extant literature by investigating the experiences of clients receiving mental health treatment via telehealth in 3 New Zealand outpatient services over the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. These services deliver care to the most high-risk clients; although ringfenced to offer care to the 3% of most severe at-risk clients, recent evidence suggests 5% of New Zealand’s population falls within this severe category [21].
