Sample Size Requirements for Popular Classification Algorithms in Tabular Clinical Data: Empirical Study

For NNs, we used the R (R Foundation for Statistical Computing) package h2o [26] to perform our analyses; we considered one hidden layer with 20 units and 10 epochs of data training. The type of NN used by “h2o” is a multilayer feedforward artificial NN, also known as multilayer perceptron (MLP). The activation function used in the hidden layers was the default linear rectifier, with softmax activation in the final output nodes for probability estimation and classification.

Public Perceptions About Monkeypox on Twitter: Thematic Analysis

Although we could have applied automated strategies, such as topic modeling, for analyzing the data, we intentionally chose to conduct a manual thematic analysis since our past research [14-16] has shown that such analyses provide more fine-grained and detailed insights. Second, we used a limited set of keywords for data collection and did not include lexical variants, potentially reducing the total number of posts.
