Impact of Beliefs About Local Physician Supply and Self-Rated Health on Willingness to See a Nurse Practitioner During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Web-Based Survey and Experiment

By highlighting a shift in the public’s willingness to see an NP, this study can inform the advocacy efforts by NPs. Because those with poor health were more likely to continue seeking care during the COVID-19 pandemic [17-19], the findings from this study suggest NPs may target messaging toward this population. Such efforts may garner public support for full practice authority and overcome the practice restrictions that NPs face. Results should be interpreted in light of the design limitations.
