Usability refers to the interaction between the end user and the system, whereas the user experience (UX) includes aspects like emotions, beliefs, and perceptions [10,11]. Originating from the UX, the PX has also become an important and acknowledged concept as the health care sector has shifted to a more customer-oriented approach. PX has been used to describe patients’ interactions and care experiences across the care continuum [12,13], but it lacks a consensus definition [14].

Limited medical research exists on the user experience (UX) of persons using IS-based digital technology. UX is considered crucial to product design [34]. Classical consumer research ranks products according to levels of utility to consumers, which are subjective individual tastes; however, individuals change over time, and effort is devoted to developing an understanding of current and future user “personas” [35].
