Parental Perceptions of Priorities and Features for a Mobile App to Promote Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors in Preschool Children: Mixed Methods Evaluation

Parental Perceptions of Priorities and Features for a Mobile App to Promote Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors in Preschool Children: Mixed Methods Evaluation

Using a novel mixed methods approach, we combined concept mapping activities and qualitative interviews to capture the perceptions of parents on app content and features. Concept mapping is a useful formative design research tool that uses a structured process to create a visual representation or cognitive map of ideas and concepts [19].

Satisfaction and Usability of a Commercially Available Medication Adherence App (Medisafe) Among Medically Underserved Patients With Chronic Illnesses: Survey Study

Most participants engaged with the app and its features; found the app acceptable, convenient, and easy to use; planned to continue using the app; and would recommend it to a family member or friend [31]. A qualitative study explored the potential benefits and barriers of using a mobile medication app in a medically underserved population in the United States [18].

Commercially Available Mobile Apps With Family Behavioral Goal Setting and Tracking for Parents: Review and Quality Evaluation

At the most basic level, the process of goal setting for individuals who have a desire to make behavioral changes includes the need to identify a goal, identify behaviors that need to be modified, generate specific strategies that will be used to implement the goal, a time frame for implementation of a plan, and a metric for how success will be defined [5,6].

A Digital Platform to Support HIV Case Management for Youth and Young Adults: Mixed Methods Feasibility Study

A Digital Platform to Support HIV Case Management for Youth and Young Adults: Mixed Methods Feasibility Study

All 3 programs shared a similar focus on HIV counseling, prevention, screening, and linkage to care, retention, and adherence. They used a model of multidisciplinary team-managed care in which each AYA living with HIV is assigned to a designated team consisting of, at minimum, a CM, a medical provider, and a nurse.

Using Momentary Assessment and Machine Learning to Identify Barriers to Self-management in Type 1 Diabetes: Observational Study

Using Momentary Assessment and Machine Learning to Identify Barriers to Self-management in Type 1 Diabetes: Observational Study

This analytic approach does not provide a means to automate analyses or use learning algorithms that improve and integrate incoming data over time. A promising approach for identifying such a model involves integrating EMA with techniques and tools associated with machine learning, which is a data analysis method that automates statistical model building by identifying patterns and making decisions with minimal human intervention [17,18].

However, some (6/22) anticipated how they might try to keep track, citing that they would be able to “call a number” or view it on their receipts or “on a website.” All these participants agreed that these alternatives would be less preferable to a detailed app feature displaying their balance with pictures.

Use of Commonly Available Technologies for Diabetes Information and Self-Management Among Adolescents With Type 1 Diabetes and Their Parents: A Web-Based Survey Study

Use of Commonly Available Technologies for Diabetes Information and Self-Management Among Adolescents With Type 1 Diabetes and Their Parents: A Web-Based Survey Study

Parents of all potentially eligible adolescents seen in the diabetes clinic were identified through medical records and initially contacted through a letter sent home inviting participation for themselves and their child (n=485). Of those, 166 (34.2%) completed the survey. A Web address for consent and a Web-based questionnaire was provided in the letter. For CWD, a banner ad and a Web link were provided on the CWD website.

Assessing Adolescent Asthma Symptoms and Adherence Using Mobile Phones

Assessing Adolescent Asthma Symptoms and Adherence Using Mobile Phones

Treatment for asthma is typically addressed initially through the use of what is known as a “rescue” inhaler that is used at the time that symptoms, such as shortness of breath, cough, or wheezing, occur. If symptoms persist over time despite use of rescue medications, a controller or “everyday” inhaler is prescribed. Thus, adherence to use of inhalers is a critical mediator of asthma control and health care utilization [1].
