Peer Review of “Viability of Mobile Forms for Population Health Surveys in Low Resource Areas (Preprint)”

The study [1] aimed to evaluate the preference for and usability of a custom mobile form software in conducting large-scale population health surveys among volunteer surveyors in low-resource communities in the Philippines. Using convenience sampling, the authors conducted pilot testing and surveys in diverse communities, leading to the development of a user-friendly mobile form software with offline functionality and time tracking.

Digital Adherence Technologies and Differentiated Care for Tuberculosis Treatment and Their Acceptability Among Persons With Tuberculosis, Health Care Workers, and Key Informants in the Philippines: Qualitative Interview Study

The DAT intervention included the provision of medication labels or smart pillboxes (Multimedia Appendix 1), a digital adherence platform, and differentiated care among adults with drug-sensitive tuberculosis (DS-TB) in the Philippines, South Africa, Tanzania, and Ukraine. According to the WHO [23], the total TB incidence rate in the Philippines was 638 per 100,000 population in 2022.

Delivering an mHealth Adherence Support Intervention for Patients With HIV: Mixed Methods Process Evaluation of the Philippines Connect for Life Study

The HIV epidemic in the Philippines is one of the fastest growing epidemics globally, with 207% increase in new HIV infections and 388% increase in AIDS deaths from 2010 to 2020. In 2020, an estimated 73% of people living with HIV in the Philippines knew their status and 44% of people living with HIV were on antiretroviral therapy (ART) [1-4]. In 2 studies of cohorts of patients with HIV in Manila, 84% to 90% of patients who started ART had achieved viral suppression [4,5].

This study aimed to identify organizational issues related to staff nurses’ use of smartphones for work purposes and examine whether such issues influence nurse administrators to support such practice in the Philippines. As a developing country in Southeast Asia, the Philippines is an interesting context for this study because most hospitals in the Philippines do not have sufficient health information technologies that can support health care professionals’ clinical work [28].
