Therefore, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can be personalized with PPI components that target motivational and emotional factors. With a focus on increasing positive emotions, behaviors, and cognitions, PPI approaches align well with CBT principles and both can be leveraged with the objective to reduce stress with negative affect aimed at mitigating cravings for alcohol to self-medicate.

Public Involvement and Engagement in Big Data Research: Scoping Review

HCP: health care provider; PPI: public and patient involvement. The database searches produced 4054 papers. Additional manual searches added a further 11 papers. After the removal of duplicates, 3540 articles were screened for inclusion in the review. A total of 3342 papers were excluded based on the title and abstract. The full-text screen took place for 198 papers, and 53 were included in the review. Figure 2 [38,39] shows the PRISMA flowchart of the screening process.

As this interest has increased, the need to effectively report on patient and public contributions to the research process has also increased. Reporting on PPI has several benefits, including the ability to identify, collate, and understand how such partnerships are undertaken and their impact on the research evaluated [1].
