If high-risk drinking is reported in clinic, the EHR prompts MAs to give patients a paper-based version of the Alcohol Symptom Checklist to complete in clinic [9]. Patients complete in-clinic screening and assessment for several reasons: some may not have set up their online patient portal, others may need translated versions in a language other than English, while others choose not to complete the checklist online.

In a study (Hallgren et al [5]) describing the clinical pilot, we showed that patient adherence to video DOT varied, but on average, video DOT significantly increased the number of days of observed methadone dosing and most patients received increased methadone take-home dosing privileges due to their ability to demonstrate treatment stability. However, the direct usability of the video DOT app has yet to be tested with patients or counselors in methadone treatment settings.

There is a need for a better understanding of how m Health-based CM programs can be made available to patients in existing outpatient clinical settings. A sample size of 30 patients was recruited during this period, which was determined to be adequate for the formative aims of this research. Additional details regarding the setting and procedures are provided in a previous study [21].
A brief questionnaire, called the weekly check-in, was sent to patients every week via SMS text message or email through a REDCap server [27].

The Use and Effectiveness of Mobile Apps for Depression: Results From a Fully Remote Clinical Trial
All potential participants learned about the study through a website explaining study details, which led to a screening protocol using automated software (Survey Gizmo; Widgix, LLC, Boulder, CO, USA) to determine eligibility. Informed consent was conducted through a 2-minute video explaining the study risks and benefits, and the payment structure over the course of the study. In addition to a PDF file of the consent form was provided.
