In this study, we use a novel vignette survey design—“sequential multiple assignment randomization trial (SMART) vignettes,” proposed by JP Kim and HJ Yang (unpublished data)—which uses the SMART design developed by Murphy [13] in a web-based vignette survey. The novelty of this survey design is that it features 2 design elements previously not seen in conventional designs: sequential randomization and adaptive allocation.
