Personalized Support in Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer After Genetic Counseling by the Chatbot-Based GENIE Mobile App: Proof-of-Concept Wizard of Oz Study

Personalized Support in Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer After Genetic Counseling by the Chatbot-Based GENIE Mobile App: Proof-of-Concept Wizard of Oz Study

In this paper, we introduce GENIE, a mobile app designed to support individuals both during and after genetic counseling for HBOC. Additionally, we present the results of a proof-of-principle Wizard of Oz study conducted with 6 patients with HBOC who had completed the acute diagnostic and therapy phase, with their initial diagnosis dating back at least 2 years.

Predicting Openness of Communication in Families With Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome: Natural Language Processing Analysis

Predicting Openness of Communication in Families With Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome: Natural Language Processing Analysis

In this study, we examined the role of sentiment in predicting openness of communication about genetic cancer risk associated with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) syndrome. HBOC is a hereditary cancer syndrome that affects both men and women and accounts for a significant number of different cancers, such as breast, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate [27].

Using a Tailored Digital Health Intervention for Family Communication and Cascade Genetic Testing in Swiss and Korean Families With Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer: Protocol for the DIALOGUE Study

Using a Tailored Digital Health Intervention for Family Communication and Cascade Genetic Testing in Swiss and Korean Families With Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer: Protocol for the DIALOGUE Study

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Office for Public Health Genomics recommend genetic testing in cancer-free individuals with a known HBOC family history and in patients with cancer who have strong indications of HBOC syndrome (eg, ovarian cancer) [13]. Cascade genetic screening is a systematic effort to identify and test all blood relatives of HBOC cases to determine whether they also carry the same pathogenic variant [10].
