Pharmaceutical Analysis of Inpatient Prescriptions: Systematic Observation of Hospital Pharmacists’ Practices in the Early User-Centered Design Phase

We visited 5 hospitals in mainland France for a total of 16 pharmacists observed: a university hospital with more than 2000 beds (3 pharmacists), 2 general hospitals with between 1000 and 2000 beds (4 pharmacists), 1 hospital with fewer than 1000 beds (5 pharmacists), and a specialized clinic with fewer than 200 beds (4 pharmacists). Pharmacists are selected regardless of their expertise or status. This includes pharmacy residents, as they perform much of the validation of hospitalized patients.

With aging and frailty, the risk of unplanned hospitalizations is increased. Studies show that in France, older adults living at home represent 13% of the population that is hospitalized at least once a year, compared to 6% for the general population [2,3].

Consequently, the time spent on screens, known as screen time, has witnessed a steady increase over the years.

The School of Endo digital program was developed and made available in France to help women with endometriosis after their diagnosis. This cohort study was designed to measure the impact of a digital health program on the symptoms and QOL levels of women with endometriosis. The study also aimed to provide insights into the value of a digital program for the day-to-day management of endometriosis and to address the lack of real-life data studies for digital support in endometriosis.

In France, the suicide rate has been on a downward trajectory for more than 30 years, although it remains higher than the global and European averages [7]. In 2014, the government introduced a national suicide prevention strategy, which has yielded encouraging outcomes. However, the resources available to those who have lost a loved one to suicide remain limited, prompting the exploration of digital resources as a potential avenue for supporting suicide survivors in France.

This demographic shift represents a significant challenge for health care systems and public policies.

This cross-sectional study was conducted in France from October 2023 to February 2024. This study was performed in accordance with the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) [27] checklist (Table S1 in Multimedia Appendix 1).
