Medical Marijuana Documentation Practices in Patient Electronic Health Records: Retrospective Observational Study Using Smart Data Elements and a Review of Medical Records

Medical Marijuana Documentation Practices in Patient Electronic Health Records: Retrospective Observational Study Using Smart Data Elements and a Review of Medical Records

In Pennsylvania, MMJ is not currently “prescribed”—rather, a physician with appropriate privileges must certify that a given patient has 1 of 24 serious medical conditions [3,4]. This certification can then be used to register and obtain an MMJ card for use at dispensaries, where a health care provider (typically a pharmacist) is available for consultation or advisement and a patient care specialist assists with product selection for a given symptom or diagnosis [5].

Discussions of Cannabis Over Patient Portal Secure Messaging: Content Analysis

Discussions of Cannabis Over Patient Portal Secure Messaging: Content Analysis

A word in a similarity list was added to the lexicon if it had a meaning related to cannabis or was a misspelling of a member of the lexicon. Note the similarity lists for the term “pot” revealed that it appeared frequently as cannabis-related words but also in unrelated contexts. To minimize misclassification in these cases, we removed all messages that contained “neti pot,” “netti pot,” “netty pot,” and “netting pot.”

Impact of an Electronic Health Record–Based Interruptive Alert Among Patients With Headaches Seen in Primary Care: Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial

Impact of an Electronic Health Record–Based Interruptive Alert Among Patients With Headaches Seen in Primary Care: Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial

Within each block, simple randomization was then used to assign each site to either the intervention or control arm, using a 1:1 ratio. A Microsoft Excel 365 (Microsoft Corporation) random number generator was used to generate the simple randomization allocation sequence. Patients received the treatment to which their site had been assigned, making this a cluster-randomized study with sites as clusters (Multimedia Appendix 1).

Evaluation of a Web-Based Medication Reconciliation Application Within a Primary Care Setting: Cluster-Randomized Controlled Trial

Evaluation of a Web-Based Medication Reconciliation Application Within a Primary Care Setting: Cluster-Randomized Controlled Trial

Approximately a third of the patients accessed MT using the online portal, while the remainder used i Pads. Patient interface. MT was available to staff through a direct link (access tab) within the EHR as a web-based application. During the intake process and normal workflow of rooming a patient, staff (ie, nurses and medical assistants) accessed MT when assessing medication use. The interface was presented in an embedded browser within the EHR.

Sharing Physician Notes Through an Electronic Portal is Associated With Improved Medication Adherence: Quasi-Experimental Study

Sharing Physician Notes Through an Electronic Portal is Associated With Improved Medication Adherence: Quasi-Experimental Study

Patients were included if they had a prescription claim filed for an antihypertensive or antihyperlipidemic medication during the year prior to deploying Open Notes (baseline), and during the study year (follow-up) of the analysis. Intervention patients were offered access to their PCP notes via the My Geisinger Web portal. Following signature of a note by a PCP documenting an encounter, patients received an email message sent to their personal email address notifying them of a portal message.
