Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rapidly progressing neurodegenerative disorder that usually leads to death within 3 years of symptom onset and within 2 years from diagnosis [1]. The sequence and rate of ALS progression can vary widely depending on the phenotype, age at onset, and diagnostic delay [2,3].

For instance, the study by Mallela et al [23] presents an automatic voice assessment approach for separating healthy individuals from patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Although our study focuses exclusively on PD as the representative neurodegenerative condition, references to ALS studies are included to highlight the broader research landscape on neurodegenerative speech biosignatures and their diagnostic significance.

Each emergency care is provided by a health professional team formed by an emergency physician, an emergency nurse, and 1 or 2 emergency technicians; these teams assist at home and other places and take care of the patient in the mobile intensive critical unit (ALS).
The EMRs analyzed are those performed by the ALS physicians who attended the pathologies under study.

While not studied in ALS, access to visit recordings has been linked to better self-management and treatment adherence in other chronic conditions [13].
We conducted a randomized controlled pilot trial to determine the feasibility and acceptability of video recording in an ALS MDC setting. By understanding whether recordings are feasible or acceptable, the results of this pilot study will help determine whether these modalities have potential for future study.

Excessive or high resistance exercises have been associated with overwork damage and thus are not recommended in ALS treatment [8]. The key focus for physical therapists is to delay the decline of muscular strength by submaximal resistance exercise, which has been shown to be safe and efficacious. Additionally, because pain and spasticity worsen the burden of ALS, physical therapy also addresses these symptoms.
