Comparative Evaluation of Consumer Wearable Devices for Atrial Fibrillation Detection: Validation Study

Comparative Evaluation of Consumer Wearable Devices for Atrial Fibrillation Detection: Validation Study

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent cardiac arrhythmia among adults and is associated with an increased risk of stroke and mortality [1-4]. Since AF is often asymptomatic and paroxysmal, its diagnosis can be challenging. Asymptomatic AF frequently remains undetected until a thromboembolic event occurs. The diagnosis of AF requires an electrocardiogram (ECG) showing irregular R-R intervals (when atrioventricular conduction is not impaired) and the absence of distinct repeating P waves [4].
