Nagykaldi et al [67] propose a design that involves an implementation phase before the start of the study. During this phase, integration of technology into the delivery of usual care can be accomplished as part of practice improvement, after which a subset of patients can be invited for study participation. This approach might motivate practices and patients to participate, as it focuses on patient health and practice improvement as well as research.
