Additionally, Berardi et al [41] found that stochastic exercise performance over the first 100 days of an intervention was associated with increased exercise throughout the remainder of the 1-year trial. Meta-flexibility was hypothesized as a potential mechanism for this finding, whereby participants who had the resilience to adjust their behavior in response to changing life circumstances were ultimately more successful at sustaining their exercise behavior.
