In this study, we analyzed posts from the 3 most popular subreddits about opioids: r/Opiates and r/Opiates Recovery. We determined their popularity by the number of Redditors subscribed to each subreddit. At the start of data collection, in March 2020, r/Opiates Recovery had more than 20,000 subscribers; r/Opiates had over 90,000.
To pull content from each subreddit, we used Python 3.7.4 run on Jupyter Notebook 6.0 using packages PRAW, pandas, and datetime.
