Furthermore, a 1-size-fits-all approach for HL and DHL fails to account for cultural and linguistic diversity, age and generational differences, multiple health conditions and contexts, unequal access to digital resources, and diverse HL levels [17]. To develop a deeper understanding of the current state of HL and DHL research, we reported the results of a survey of HL and DHL researchers in this study.

Participants were provided a US $25 incentive for their time.
Participants (N=5) included a neonatal intensive care unit registered nurse, a nurse practitioner, a certified nurse midwife, a family and preventive medicine physician, and a counselor (licensed clinical social worker). Participants’ careers in health care ranged from 12 to 32 years, with 1 to 25 years of experience in their current roles.
