Feasibility, Acceptability, and Preliminary Efficacy of an App-Based Meditation Intervention to Decrease Firefighter Psychological Distress and Burnout: A One-Group Pilot Study

Summative raw scores can range from 8 to 40 and are converted to t scores to compare to population norms, with higher scores indicating greater anxiety symptoms. This scale demonstrated adequate reliability at the baseline (α=.91) and end (α=.88) assessments. PROMIS Short Form v1.0–Emotional Distress–Depression– Short Form 8a was used at baseline and at the end of the intervention to assess the frequency of firefighters’ experiences of emotions such as worthlessness, hopelessness, and sadness.
