Most feedback group participants (24/30, 80%) also reported having read all 3 personalized feedback reports, and all feedback group participants (30/30, 100%) read at least 1 report. There was no significant difference between the baseline drinking levels of feedback group participants who read all 3 reports and those who did not (P=.35).

The Infectious Disease Institute also runs a monthly youth clinic, whose activities include a support group and other youth-friendly activities in addition to clinical care for 15- to 24-year-old people. Participants for this study will be recruited from young people living with HIV attending the Infectious Disease Institute by direct outreach to the adolescent clinic with the guidance of our team’s peer champions.

If retention is lower than expected in the comparison group (eg, 10%), we will have at least 80% power to detect a ≥34% increase in Pr EP retention. Likewise, if retention is higher than expected in the comparison group (eg, 30%), we will be adequately powered at 80% to detect a ≥38% increase in Pr EP retention.
This will be measured as attendance within a window of −7 to +7 days of the scheduled 6-month refill visit.

Differences in group means on continuous variables will be tested using 2-tailed t tests or rank tests, after interpretable normality transformations if necessary. Distributions of categorical variables will be compared between groups using chi-square tests, exact tests, or 95% CIs to guide interpretation. Group comparisons will be determined based on the outcomes of interest (eg, willingness, readiness, etc).
