Family Experiences, Needs, and Perceptions in Home-Based Hospice Care for Patients With Terminal Cancer: Meta-Synthesis and Systematic Review

One participant expressed this sentiment: “When my dad was in the hospital, they bathed him, fed him, and gave him his meals, and he just lay there. After these, nobody bothered him, nobody did anything more. He was nothing” [32]. At home, caregivers felt they could better meet their loved ones’ needs, taking comfort in the familiar environment and the reduced stress for both patient and caregiver. This approach offered a sense of control and personal involvement.
