Evaluation of a Virtual Home Health Heart Failure Program: Mixed Methods Study
For data that was normally distributed, the mean and SD were used as measures of central tendency and dispersion, and dependent-samples t tests were used to test for changes over time (Time 1 and Time 2) in patient-reported outcomes. For data that were nonnormally distributed, the median and IQR, and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test for dependent samples were used. Frequency counts were also provided for patient demographic and clinical status data.

A series of paired 2-tailed t tests were conducted to compare knowledge assessments’ mean scores and evaluate change in question responses at different time points. In addition, Spearman rank correlation tests were conducted to assess the relationship between the proportion of participants who answered correctly or incorrectly and degrees of confidence and relevance.

Raw scores are converted to T-score (SD) values. The mean score is 50 (SD 10).
The Functional Disability Inventory (FDI) [38] is a measure of pain-related disability. It is a 15-item measure assessing the degree to which pain interferes with children’s physical functioning over a 2-week period. The FDI has demonstrated adequate psychometric properties in youth with CMP aged 8-18 years [38,39].

To compare if the proportion of asynchronous ATT systematically changed for all patients across the program duration, we used a 2-sided t test to compare the beta coefficients to 0 (see section “Assessing Training Consistency” in the Methods).
