The preoperative LEFS and VPM scores were compared with postoperative scores, and the magnitude of change over time was examined using paired, 1-tailed t test statistics. The analysis of covariance was used to examine the role of age, sex, and severity score on postoperative VPM scores after adjusting for the preoperative level of functional difficulty. Interactions among independent variables were explored.
