In 2020, the Spanish Ministry of Health and the Institute of Health Carlos III, in collaboration with the health services of all Spanish regions, launched the Seroepidemiological Survey of SARS-Co V-2 Infection in Spain (ENE-COVID), a nationwide, representative, population-based seroepidemiological survey, with more than 60,000 participants, to quantify SARS-Co V-2 infection prevalence [16].

One such effort is the Retina Eye Care of Nepal (RECON) project, which was designed to strengthen retina eye care services in Nepal [2]. This initiative was a well-planned health education intervention targeting physicians’ knowledge about diabetic retinopathy. Evidence from the evaluation of this initiative identified an increase in the number of referrals and attendance of patients for diabetic retinopathy screening with the change in knowledge and referral mechanism [3].

The reasons for nonparticipation are mentioned in Figure 2. Furthermore, 71 patients were eligible but did not complete the baseline questionnaire and were therefore not randomized. Finally, 474 patients were randomly assigned to the intervention (n=251) or control (n=223) group of whom 369 (78%) completed at least 1 follow-up questionnaire and were therefore included in the final analyses (188 patients in the intervention group and 181 in the control group).

The findings suggest that digital shared decision-making tools may positively impact patient activation, decisional conflict, working alliance, and symptom severity. Specific digital interventions include a tablet app for patients with schizophrenia, designed to assess and record satisfaction with life and treatment domains, facilitating discussions between patients and nurses [45].

Because of the different modes of administration of these treatments, each group receives both an injection and oral tablets. The study therefore comprises three arms: (1) a “toxin” group treated with an injection of botulinum toxin and placebo oral baclofen; (2) a “baclofen” group treated with oral baclofen and an injection of placebo botulinum toxin; and (3) a double “placebo” group treated with placebo oral baclofen and an injection of placebo botulinum toxin.

In order to facilitate this process, an instant group at a messaging app was created for ESF team professionals and local managers to forward their questions. Additionally, synchronous meetings were organized to discuss telehealth experiences from the UBS+Digital project, allowing teams from different PHUs to present their successful cases, meet external speakers, and further engage in collaborative learning.

This feasibility study was a community-based participatory research design with 2 phases, namely, a development phase and an implementation phase. The development phase included a 4-month preparation phase, where study staff worked with a community engagement group to modify a working VR randomized controlled trial home-based protocol to a local public high school setting.

The 10/66 Dementia Research Group study [25] highlights the high cost of dementia for health systems and the negative mental health impacts on women in LMICs, who are often primary caregivers for people with dementia [26]. This underscores the need for further research on dementia diagnosis and care in LMICs and for directing it effectively toward impactful decision-making.
