A Mobile Game Intervention for Young Persons Living With HIV and Depression in Nigeria: Protocol for a Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

A Mobile Game Intervention for Young Persons Living With HIV and Depression in Nigeria: Protocol for a Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

Coupled with the rapid increase in ownership of mobile phones in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs; 90% in Nigeria), digital games provide a compelling format for intervention delivery [29]. A genre of games called serious games is developed specifically for a reason other than pure entertainment (ie, promotion of health behaviors or health outcomes) [30].

Improving Access to HIV Prevention Services in Community Pharmacies in the US Southeast: Protocol for a Hybrid Type 1 Effectiveness-Implementation Study

Improving Access to HIV Prevention Services in Community Pharmacies in the US Southeast: Protocol for a Hybrid Type 1 Effectiveness-Implementation Study

Inequities in Pr EP use by race are dire: in 2019, just 8% of Black people in need of Pr EP received a prescription, compared to 60% of White people [8]. Just 3 years later, in 2022, Pr EP uptake only increased 5% for Black people compared to a 34% increase for White people, totaling to 94% of White people who need Pr EP being provided a prescription compared to 13% of Black people [8,9].

Engaging Older Adults and Staff in the Co-Design and Evaluation of Socially Assistive Robot and Virtual Reality Activities for Long-Term Care: User-Centered Study

Engaging Older Adults and Staff in the Co-Design and Evaluation of Socially Assistive Robot and Virtual Reality Activities for Long-Term Care: User-Centered Study

Activities were designed specifically for use with a humanoid SAR and a dog SAR. The humanoid SAR acted as a coach and cheerleader, while a computer-based avatar acted as the coach and cheerleader for activities involving the dog SAR. The dog SAR then functioned as an entertainment reward.

Reconstruction of a Risk Analysis Tool That Uses Nursing Data for Frailty Assessment Among Older Adults: Derivation and Internal Evaluation Study

Reconstruction of a Risk Analysis Tool That Uses Nursing Data for Frailty Assessment Among Older Adults: Derivation and Internal Evaluation Study

EHRs include a wide array of data about a patient and may be sufficient sources of all information that is necessary for a hands-off frailty assessment. This study addresses the limitations of existing frailty assessment tools in acute care by offering a data-driven approach to frailty risk assessment. The long-term goal is to develop a prognostic index for frailty that automates the process of frailty risk assessment based on EHR data collected through routine acute care.

A Digital Patient Decision Aid to Increase Sexually Transmitted Infection Testing in the Emergency Department: Protocol for a Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial of the STIckER (STI Check in the Emergency Room) Study

A Digital Patient Decision Aid to Increase Sexually Transmitted Infection Testing in the Emergency Department: Protocol for a Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial of the STIckER (STI Check in the Emergency Room) Study

The randomization sequence was implemented by a study coordinator using a centralized allocation system. The assignment was not concealed from investigators. Randomization health care provider participant (HCP-P) in the intervention arm received 1:1 training with a research assistant on the STIck ER app. If a participating provider left the ED before the end of the study period, a new provider randomized to the same study arm was invited to participate.

Newly Designed Optical Coherence Tomography Catheter for Optimizing Bladder Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment: Protocol for a Feasibility Study

Newly Designed Optical Coherence Tomography Catheter for Optimizing Bladder Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment: Protocol for a Feasibility Study

The current diagnostic process for bladder cancer involves a cystoscopy followed by transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT) [1]. A TURBT is undertaken to obtain material for histopathology, which is required to confirm the malignant nature of the lesion and, if so, to determine the invasion and grade of the tumor [1]. In some patients, a repeat TURBT is necessary to ensure complete resection and confirm the histopathological stage [1].

Enrichment of the Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow’s Health Study: Protocol for Administering Multiple Online Dietary and Movement Behavior Assessment Tools in a Longitudinal Cohort Study

Enrichment of the Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow’s Health Study: Protocol for Administering Multiple Online Dietary and Movement Behavior Assessment Tools in a Longitudinal Cohort Study

Evidence has shown that improving access to healthy foods, for example, by introducing new grocery stores or stores selling a wide variety of healthy food in a neighborhood, has a null or modest impact on dietary intake [14-16]. Proximity to fast food outlets is linked to (poor) diet quality, although not consistently [16].

Digital Health for Australia: Bridging the Rural, Regional, and Remote Health Gap

Digital Health for Australia: Bridging the Rural, Regional, and Remote Health Gap

Cardiovascular disease is a significant health problem in RRR regions in Australia, where prevalence rates are approximately 20% to 30% higher than in urban areas [4]. Other significant health challenges across RRR communities include chronic kidney disease and dementia and other mental health disorders [5]. As a result, individuals residing in RRR regions experience an age-adjusted mortality rate that is 2.3 times higher than that of those living in major cities [6].

Comparison of Physician Assistant and Medical Students' Clinical Reasoning Processes Using an Online Patient Simulation Tool to Support Clinical Reasoning (eCREST): Mixed Methods Study

Clinical reasoning is a core skill with relevance to many facets of clinical practice [3] and with a particular influence on clinicians’ judgments when attending to patients with symptoms that might be serious disease [4-6].
